As part of its ongoing commitment to placing brain health at the heart of international policy, the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) is pleased to highlight and support the upcoming G7 Canada Brain Economy Summit, taking place in June 2025. Timed to align with Canada’s G7 Leaders’ Summit, this event aims to galvanize cross-sector action to build a thriving “brain economy” rooted in brain health, brain skills, and cognitive resilience.
The summit includes G7-aligned virtual roundtables and a public event in Calgary, convening senior leaders from government, business, science, civil society, and labour to shape shared strategies for inclusive, brain-centered economic development.
Why This Matters
The G7 Canada Brain Economy Summit builds on recent momentum across the international landscape—from the recognition of brain health as a strategic priority at Davos 2025, to the launch of the Yaoundé Declaration on Brain Economy in Africa, and the increased presence of brain health in UNGA and G20 dialogues. By focusing on the economic dimension of brain capital, the summit contributes to a shift in how societies and economies address cognitive health, skills development, and population resilience.
For EAN and its partners, the summit reflects a shared goal: to position brain health as not only a public health issue but also a strategic investment in Europe’s—and the world’s—economic future.
Summit Highlights
- Roundtables and Innovation Sessions organised around official G7 engagement groups (e.g. B7, C7, S7, W7), offering policy insights, real-world stories, and emerging solutions
- A Brain Economy Declaration to inform the G7 communiqué and upcoming global forums including UNGA 80, the G20 Summit, and DAC Brain House @ Davos 2026
- A focus on how brain health and skills development impact workforce readiness, gender equity, youth empowerment, and research innovation
Continued Engagement
EAN has long advocated for brain health to be integrated into national and international strategies, aligning with the WHO Intersectoral Global Action Plan (IGAP) and initiatives like the Brain Health Mission. The G7 summit’s emphasis on strategic foresight, equity, and cross-sector collaboration mirrors EAN’s own vision for how Europe can lead in shaping a brain-healthy future.
