In a timely and thought-provoking EAN TV session, Profs Reetta Kälviainen, Arife Çimen Atalar and Martin Rakusa explored disparities and gender-specific challenges in neurology.
Kälviainen highlighted how socioeconomic and cultural barriers affect epilepsy diagnosis and treatment worldwide, while Atalar focused on gendered aspects of the disease, including catamenial epilepsy and pregnancy management. Rakusa addressed the often-overlooked topic of how common neurological treatments can impact male reproductive health.
The session delivered practical, eye-opening insights and left viewers with a deeper understanding of how diversity, equity, and inclusion intersect with neurological care.
