Welcome to the January 2026 edition of the President’s Corner, our eanNews series, in which I answer your questions about the EAN and its various initiatives.
I would like to start by wishing all eanNews readers and the whole EAN community a very happy and healthy new year! I hope you all enjoyed a peaceful and joyful holiday season and are having a great start to 2026.
Understandably, this was a somewhat quieter month in the President’s Corner, but I was happy to receive a few very nice questions, nevertheless. Please see my answers below.
I was delighted to be able to answer even more questions, delving into my achievements and experiences as the EAN President, in a video interview with eanNews Editor Benedetta Bodini, shortly before Christmas. To watch the video, please click here.
If you would like a question answered, please keep an eye out for our upcoming posts inviting submissions for next month’s edition, or reach out anytime via email.
Best wishes,
Elena Moro, EAN President
I attend your congress every year. This year my budget is limited. How could you help me?
I am delighted to hear you are attending every year and I hope you can find a way to join us again for 2026. The simplest ways to get the most out of your budget are to register for the early fee before 22 April and to make sure your EAN membership is up to date so that you qualify for our reduced members’ fees. In addition to that, we offer bursaries, available to RRFS & Student members from EAN member countries, and vastly reduced fees for online participation (even free of charge for EAN members).
There are also currently multiple ways in which you can win free registration for this year’s congress:
- EAN 2026 Congress Quiz – answer the questions correctly to be entered into a prize draw for three free registration prizes
- NeuroART Competition – engage your creative side and submit your photography, painting, music, dance, video, poetry or short essay for the chance to win
- eanCampus Challenge – complete 24 e-Learning modules by 24 January to enter this draw for one free registration
Moreover, Geneva Tourism & Convention Foundation will offer their Meet & Taste Card to 1,500 of our onsite participants. The card can be used at many restaurants and cafés throughout the city, allowing you to seize reduced prices during your stay.
Cards will be made available on a first-come-first-served basis to eligible participants who register for the congress as RRFS Members, Student Members, low/middle income Associate Members, Associate Corresponding Members…. If you are eligible, you will be informed when and where to collect your card. We will soon have some further information about this initiative on our congress website.
In the meantime, please keep an eye on eanNews for any other possible opportunities and competitions!
Happy New Year. Prof. Moro! Do you have any new year’s resolutions for the EAN?
Thank you so much! I also wish you a fantastic 2026! This new year will see further developments in several areas, emphasising the outstanding role that the EAN has in Europe, standing for neurologists and people living with neurological disorders. Stay tuned with us and you will see!
I just submitted my first abstract for the EAN Congress! What do I need to do if it gets accepted?
First, congratulations on this exciting step and thank you for your contribution to our congress!
If your work gets accepted for the 12th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology, there are two crucial things you need to do: 1) make sure the presenting author is registered for the congress, making sure that the registration matches the presentation type (oral presentation, ePoster, or ePoster Virtual), and 2) start preparing your presentation!
If you have any problems, we have a helpful set of FAQs on the congress website: FAQs – ean.org, and if you have time left before the deadline, you could always consider submitting another abstract!
If you need any assistance with your abstract submission, you can reach out to our submissions team at abstracts[@]ean.org
I wish you and all submitters the best of luck!
