Welcome to the February 2026 edition of the President’s Corner, our eanNews series, in which I answer your questions about the EAN and its various initiatives.
Thanks to the abstract submission deadline for the EAN Congress 2026 falling in the middle of January, most of the questions I received this month were about abstract submission. Many of them we have answered directly, since an answer in this article would have been too late to be helpful! But below are the couple of remaining questions where an answer might be illuminating for our readers.
On that subject, I would like to personally thank everyone who contributed to our new abstract submission record, which clearly demonstrates the status of our annual congress in the minds of the global neurology community.
If you would like a question answered, please keep an eye out for our upcoming posts inviting submissions for next month’s edition, or reach out anytime via email.
Best wishes,
Elena Moro, EAN President
Are there any scholarships for students whose papers got accepted?
Thank you very much for your question — and congratulations on having your paper accepted!
Yes, the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) does offer bursaries for student members, but these must be applied for at the time of abstract submission. EAN provides up to 240 bursaries, which include free congress registration and up to four nights of accommodation. These bursaries are available to EAN Student Members, as well as Resident and Research Members from eligible countries.
However, once the abstract submission period has closed, it is unfortunately no longer possible to apply for a bursary. The bursary checkbox is only available during the submission process, and applications submitted after the deadline cannot be considered.
If you plan to submit again in future congresses, I warmly encourage you to ensure your EAN membership is active ahead of submission, so you can take advantage of this opportunity next time.
Where to apply for the congress and is it open for 15-year-old Indians?
Thank you for your interest in the EAN Congress — it’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm at a young age!
In general, participants can apply for and register to attend the congress through the official EAN Congress registration page. All participants need to create a MyEAN account to complete their registration, and all registration types and deadlines are listed there.
However, for your special case, I’m afraid that the minimum age to participate in the EAN Congress is 18 years. This applies regardless of nationality, including participants from India.
Please keep the enthusiasm alive — it’s truly wonderful to see! In just a few years, you will be fully eligible to register, and we would be very happy to welcome you to the congress.
We hope to see you there in the future and look forward to your contributions to the neurology community.
