EBC’s advocacy on Horizon Europe
The European Commission published its proposals for the next EU Framework Programme, called Horizon Europe, in June 2018. The proposals introduced the concept of R&I mission which are concrete, bold and achievable goals aimed at addressing major societal challenges. What is more, the overall proposed budget of Horizon Europe is €94.1 billion. Within this budget, €7.7 billion is allocated to the Health Cluster under Pillar II which will, amongst other issues, fund health research.
In the light of these developments, Martin Rossor, EBC Ambassador and Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University College London, reflected on some of the present-day challenges associated with dementia research in a recent interview. Furthermore, he elaborated on how the current Framework Programme, Horizon 2020, supports research and underlined the importance of EU research funding for progressing science.
