Fellowship project: Clinico-pathological correlations in FTD: a study in the Dutch population

In this article, our goal is to provide a glimpse into the excellent collaboration and cooperation our organization has had with the European Federation of Neurorehabilitation Societies (EFNR).

Governmental Expert Group on Dementia holds second meeting The European Group of Governmental Experts on Dementia held its second meeting on 17 and 18 June 2019 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 20 European countries were represented at the meeting, in addition to representatives from the 2nd European Joint Action on Dementia (Act on Dementia/DEM2), the World Health Organization (WHO) and Alzheimer Europe.

The past year has been a good year for neurology. With the major progress for neurological treatments and the aging of the population, neurology is becoming one of the key disciplines of medicine. Its organized bodies like the World Federation of Neurology, the regional societies in America, Asia and Europe as well as the specialty societies for stroke, movement disorders, dementia, multiple sclerosis and many other diseases are becoming the key drivers of this development.

Association of long-term opioid therapy with functional status, adverse outcomes, and mortality among patients with polyneuropathy. JAMA Neurology 2017;74:773-779. Neuropathic pain is a common symptom in polyneuropathy that can be difficult to manage. Opioids are usually recommended as second-line treatment, with primary care physicians being mainly involved in opioid prescription.

During the EAN conference in Amsterdam in June 2017, the symposium on "Challenges for Women in Neurology" had 2 out of 3 invited speakers address aspects African Neurology (Dekker from Tanzania; Charway-Felli from Ghana).
