The 8th edition of Challenges for women in Neurology took place in Vienna during EAN 2022. Prof. Elena Moro and Dr. Antonella Macerollo participants to this networking event, which has been a regular feature since the first EAN Congress in 2015.

A packed Main Auditorium was the venue for this year’s Presidential Symposium, as one of the major highlights of every EAN Annual Congress finally took place in front of a live audience following two virtual symposia at the last two congresses.

This Special Timezone Session on the Burden of neurological disorders in South America, in cooperation with the Brazlian Academy of Neurology, presented how neurological care can vary between different geographic areas.

During this Special Session three experts discussed the clinical, neuropathological and radiological findings of three atypical cases treated at the Department of Neurology in Vienna.

This Special Timezone Session was organised in co-operation with the African Academy of Neurology with the aim of highlighting efforts to improve accessibility to care for people with neurological diseases in Africa.

This year we had the opportunity to see the presentation of two new guidelines and get insight into the guideline development process in this Special Session on New Neurological Guidelines.

Following a wait of three years, EAN President, Prof. Claudio Bassetti, was finally able to welcome the neurology community to a face-to-face EAN Annual Congress at the EAN 2022 Opening Session on Saturday evening.

The European Academy of Neurology is pleased to announce that our Assembly of Delegates elected several new EAN Board members today, on the first day of the EAN 2022 Annual Congress in Vienna.

The ETRN (European Training Requirements for Neurology) have been updated with the input of the European Union of Medical Specialists – Section of Neurology (UEMS-SN) and the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), including its Scientific Panels, and the support of education experts across Europe, as well as the patients’ representatives - European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA).

It was our great pleasure to once again hold an in-person Spring School following a two-year period when these courses could only take place virtually.

A joint symposium between the EANM Neuroimaging Committee and EAN will take place during the EANM Virtual Multidisciplinary Days on 28-30 June, 2022.
