Prof. David Oliver (DO): I have been a Consultant in Palliative Medicine for 32 years, and I am now working part time.  I became interested in ALS when training at St Christopher’s Hospice in London, with Dame Cicely Saunders, and I have been able to continue this interest over the years – both clinically and in research and writing within the University of Kent, where I have just become an Honorary Professor.

    V: The International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) structure is quite different from the EAN one, as it works with national ILAE chapters worldwide. Can you please illustrate to the EANpages readers how do the ILAE structures work with these national chapters? And how is the relationship between ILAE-CEA and ILAE? ILAE comprises the national epilepsy societies (chapters). There are six regional commissions within ILAE and the Commission on European Affairs (CEA) is the largest, with 46 chapters belonging to the CEA.

Leopold Saltuari (LS): The European Federation of NeuroRehabilitation Societies (EFNR) is open to all colleagues interested in the field of neuro-rehabilitation. It was founded in order to create a common platform for the national European societies of neuro-rehabilitation as well as other organizations with similar interests.

Lieven Lagae (LL): Currently, I am the president of the European Pediatric Neurology Society (EPNS) which is representing the large majority of pediatric neurologists in Europe. I am a full Professor at the University of Leuven Belgium and Director of the Pediatric Neurology program at the University Hospitals of the University of Leuven Belgium. We offer a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic program for all major neurological problems in children.

Stefan Oberndorfer (SO): As a Neurologist, my special field of interest is clinical Neuro-oncology. Presently, I am working as a head of Department for Neurology at the Karl Landsteiner University Clinic of St Pölten in Austria. My main areas of clinical research are brain tumors, tumor associated epilepsy, palliative care in brain tumor patients, spinal metastases, neurotoxicity of anticancer treatment, paraneoplastic neurological syndromes and symptomatic treatment in neuro-oncology.
