92nd Congress of the German Neurological Society
November 5, 2019Between the 25th and 28th of September 2019, the German Neurological Society (deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurologie – DGN) held its annual congress at the International Congresscenter in Stuttgart, Germany. As one of the largest neurological gatherings in Europe it was attended by approximately 5,500 health professionals associated with Neurology. -
The European Academy of Neurology is pleased to welcome Nepal as its new Corresponding Institutional Member! From now on, the Nepal Academy of Neurology (NAN), led by President, Prof. Dr. Krishna Kumar Oli, is going to be invited as an observer to the EAN Assembly of Delegates and to an informal meeting with other Corresponding Institutional Members, taking place during the EAN congresses.

ESNR, the European Society of Neuroradiology, is with 5,000 members Europe’s leading radiological subspecialty society. Founded in 1969 we are celebrating our 50th birthday this year. A wide range of diagnostic and interventional neuroradiological topics including brain and spine imaging, head and neck imaging and pediatric neuroradiology are housed under the ESNR umbrella.

The annual WHO meeting of the mental health forum was held on the 14-15 October 2019. This is the first time that Neurology was invited to attend and present in two separate sessions. I represented the EAN and presented the case for global Neurosciences in the two sessions.

Following the big success of last year’s 1st Autumn School, EAN again welcomed 61 participants from 22 countries - Albania, Armenia, Austria, Denmark, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine. Loutraki, formerly known for its’ natural thermal springs, is close to Corinth and the archaeological site and village of ancient Corinth, about 80 kilometres west of Athens.

On 16 October, EAN participated in an event in the European Parliament organized by Global Alliance of Mental Illness Advocacy Networks-Europe (GAMIAN Europe). The event brought together the MEP Alliance for Mental Health, organizations and societies focused on brain and mental health as well as several policy makers from the EU institutions. This MEP Alliance is endorsed by 26 members of the European Parliament.
