It is with great pride and gratitude that we thank everyone who took part in the 6th Annual Congress of the European Academy of Neurology last week. This was the first ever EAN Virtual Congress and truly a pioneering event in terms of neurology and academic conferences more widely. -
This interesting session covering the updates on acute stroke treatments started with a lecture by Dr Sandset from Norway. She discussed the last evidence for on- and off-label treatment in intravenous thrombolysis, and started her lecture reminding that all evidence indicate that time is critical in the treatment of stroke. First, the results of the recent WAKE UP trial have been discussed, in which it was demonstrated that the treatment with intravenous alteplase was associated with a favorable outcome in patients with stroke with an unknown time of onset in the presence of MRI features suggesting recent cerebral infarction. -
