Norway is one of Europe's most sparsely populated countries with 5.2 million people in a land area of 385,802 km2. The most densely populated area is around the city of Oslo in the south-east of the country. Oslo, the Norway’s capital, is the fastest-growing capital in Europe.

Starting at the EAN congress 2018 in Lisbon, the EAN Teaching Course sub-Committee has proposed to have an educating AND entertaining quiz-show. A dedicated taskforce together with the support of the EAN Scientific Panels worked on the set-up of this educational session – the EAN BrainChallenge.

Report of the 9th Regional Teaching Course on Neurology in Sub-Saharan Africa – Ougadougou, Burkina Faso, November 2017
January 1, 2018The 9th Regional Teaching Course (RTC) in Sub-Saharan Africa took place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on November 8 – 11, 2017. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Jean Kabore, Head of the Neurological Department of the Yalgado Ouedrago Hospital of Ouagadougou together with Prof. Athanase Milogo, Head of the Neurology Department of the Sanou Sourou hospital in Bo Bo Dialasso and Prof. Christian Napon, head of the Neurology Department of the District Hospital of Bogodogo, Ouagadougou. The RTC took place at the National Hospital “Blaise Compaore”. -

William Carroll (WC): What a good question to begin with. I would say my “diagnosis” is healthy and its prognosis is one of cautious optimism mixed with exciting opportunities and challenges. -
The past year has been a good year for neurology. With the major progress for neurological treatments and the aging of the population, neurology is becoming one of the key disciplines of medicine. Its organized bodies like the World Federation of Neurology, the regional societies in America, Asia and Europe as well as the specialty societies for stroke, movement disorders, dementia, multiple sclerosis and many other diseases are becoming the key drivers of this development.
