DV (David B. Vodušek): Can you please illustrate the European Chapter of IFCN to the readers of the EAN pages? What is the formal relationship of the European chapter to IFCN? WP (Walter Paulus): The European Chapter (EC-IFCN) is one of four chapters of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN), with the others being North America, South America and Oceania.

Elena Moro (EM): As incoming co-chair of the Scientific Panel “Palliative Care” can you briefly introduce yourself and your specific field of expertise to the EAN Pages readers. Prof. David Oliver (DO): I have been a Consultant in Palliative Medicine for 32 years, and I am now working part time.  I became interested in ALS when training at St Christopher’s Hospice in London, with Dame Cicely Saunders, and I have been able to continue this interest over the years – both clinically and in research and writing within the University of Kent, where I have just become an Honorary Professor.

Elena Moro (EM): As incoming co-chair of the Scientific Panel “Muscle and NMJ disorders” can you briefly introduce yourself and your specific field of expertise to the EANpages readers. Benedikt Schoser has more than 20 years’ experience as a neurologist and myopathologist in a variety of areas of neuromuscular disorders, including myopathological, structural, biochemical and molecular genetic muscle research, and clinical trials.

Elena Moro (EM): As incoming co-chair of the Scientific Panel “Neuroimaging” can you briefly introduce yourself and your specific field of expertise to the EANpages readers. Irina Rektorova (IR): I am neurologist at the Department of Neurology, University hospital and School of Medicine in Brno, Czech Republic, Head of the Centre for Cognitive Impairment and Dementia, and Head of the Applied Neuroscience Research Group at Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Masaryk University in Brno.

David Vodušek (DV): As President of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and active neuro-oncologist you are confronted with the full panorama of neurological sciences. How will you bridge the very specific and the very broad? Terrence Cascino (TC): The Academy exists because of the enormous intellect among the hundreds of volunteer neurologists who help to provide the unparalleled programs, products, and services to our more than 28,000 members around the world. These volunteers represent some of the best and brightest neurologists and are knowledgeable on the hundreds of neurologic diseases encountered in clinical practice by our members.

Dr. Elena Moro, a young neurologist with multi-national and multi-continental training and experience, will be the new EDITOR-IN-CHIEF of Neuropenews. With the help and enthusiasm of Dr. Tim von Oertzen, the web-Editor, they will shortly propose a brand new web journal of our Academy, to the European Neurology community.
