This year’s „Round table discussion” of the EAN Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) was performed for the first time in form of two controversial topics with a “podium” discussion. The discussion was performed in a rather informal and open way between two experts providing a thorough discussion including pro and contra arguments based on individual experience as well as facts, allowing participants to ask questions in general as well as specific to their own situation and request advice.

In May, we celebrated together the 20th Anniversary Course with 120 young neurologists from more than 34 countries.

Since 2018, EAN gives 60 neurologists in training the chance to increase their knowledge of clinical neurology. The basic idea is to illustrate and showcase how experienced neurologists and sub-specialists approach specific clinical presentations, including an update on relevant diagnostic and treatment approaches for key conditions in the relevant areas.

From 17-18 May took place, in Munich, the first Atypical Parkinsonian Syndromes Course. The course was organized by Professor Günter Höglinger, from Munch Technische Universität and Professor Gregor Wenning from Innsbruck University.

The second joint-workshop of the European Academy of Neurology - Resident and Research Fellow Section (EAN-RRFS) national representatives network was held in collaboration with the Italian association of young neurologists on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2019 in Rome, Italy.

Now in its third year, from 15 April to 26 May ebrain will host the 2019 set of 100 formative test questions in collaboration with the Association of British Neurologists and the European Academy of Neurology. The uptake of this formative exercise is growing steadily each year: in 2018, 146 neurologists completed the exercise, with a mean score of 77.9%, and we are expecting well over 200 participants this year.

Thanks to the award I was able to spend six valuable weeks in the Department of Neurology, University of Debrecen, Hungary. The experience I have gained under the precious guidance of my mentor, Professor Csiba László, in the field of cerebrovascular diseases, have led me to one of the most memorable and fruitful experiences in my professional career.

The Swiss Young Sleep Wake Chronobiology Network (SYSWCN) was founded in 2016, as part of the Swiss Society for Sleep Research, Sleep Medicine, and Chronobiology (SSSSC). The SYSWCN is very interdisciplinary organised and aims to connect young researchers and clinicians within Switzerland independent of their subfield, background, or clinical speciality

EAN Guideline Production Group is happy to announce the participants for the European guideline education and Cost-Conscious Healthcare (CoCoCare) programme - pilot project aimed at filling the education gap between the importance of medical guidelines for cost-effective healthcare and the fact that this matter is rarely included in medical training programs.

Now in its third edition, the national conference of Italian young neurologists is one of the cornerstones of the congressional calendar for Italian residents in Neurology.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the European Academy of Neurology for having granted me a training research fellowship at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences at University of Oxford.

MDS-ES 8th Winter School for Young Neurologists at King’s College in London Almost 50 young neurologists and neurology residents from all over the world gathered in London from 7-9 February for the 8th Movement Disorder Society (MDS) Winter School for young neurologists. This well-attended and lively event featured two-and-half days of presentations, focused clinical examination rounds, video sessions and debate, driven by plenary sessions and two parallel workshops.

The Israeli Neurological Association held the first EAN Day in Israel on December 10, a day prior to its Annual Conference. We were honored to host several prominent speakers from the European community of neurologists, who shared their current views with local neurologists in beautiful surroundings and convivial atmosphere. Prof. Philip Scheltens from the Alzheimer Center of VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam discussed recent developments in diagnostics of Alzheimer's disease.
