The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society – European Section (MDS-ES) is pleased to once again partner with the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) to deliver an exciting line-up of movement disorder-focused sessions during the 12th EAN Congress, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 27–30 June. The collaborative programme reflects the breadth and innovation of the field, offering opportunities for learning, discussion, and practical skill development across a wide range of movement disorder topics.
An annual highlight of the programme is the MDS-ES European Basal Ganglia Club Session, featuring the prestigious C. David Marsden Award Lecture alongside video case presentations. Prof. Bastiaan Bloem will present the keynote lecture on What to do if even David Marsden would not have a clue. Join us Saturday, 27 June (15:30 – 17:00) for this exciting session. Following the high attendance and evaluation of the 2025 joint session, the MDS Young Members Group and EAN Resident & Research Fellow Section (RRFS) have partnered again to present the Interactive Session on pediatric and early-onset movement disorders designed to foster engagement and multidisciplinary discussion using cases submitted from junior delegates. This session occurs on Monday, 29 June (11:00 – 12:30).
This year’s movement disorders programme features two Symposia: Tremor syndromes (Saturday) and Dementia with Lewy Bodies (Monday), plus Focused Workshops, Teaching Courses and Case-based Workshops addressing topics spanning neuromodulation in Parkinson’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies, synucleinopathies, speech as a diagnostic clue, cognitive impairment in movement disorders, and repurposing GLP-1 receptor agonists for neuroprotection. There are three opportunities for Hands-On Courses exploring botulinum toxin, infusion therapies and genetic variants and reporting in a small audience hands-on education format.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to join the Scientific Theatre Session: Update on Movement Disorders and MDS Activities – Sunday, 28 June (11:45-12:15), where MDS leaders will share updates on society initiatives, recognise top-scoring movement disorders abstracts presented at the congress, and engage participants through an interactive Q&A session.
We encourage all members attending to explore the MDS@EAN sessions and connect with colleagues from across Europe and beyond. Be sure to share your experience using #MDSatEAN and help showcase the vibrant movement disorders community at EAN 2026.
