It is my privilege to present the first annual report of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN). This overview of activities and achievements in 2025 gives us, our members, our many partners, and the wider neurological community across Europe and beyond many reasons to look back on the year with pride.
Neurological disorders remain the leading cause of disability and ill health worldwide, reinforcing the urgency of our shared mission: to advance neurological excellence, improve patient care, and promote brain health throughout the lifespan.
Throughout 2025, the EAN continued to strengthen its role as the home of neurology in Europe, supporting education and training, fostering scientific collaboration, advocating for research, innovation, equity, and inclusion, and amplifying the voice of neurology within European health policy. Building on the momentum of our first decade, we have continued to increase our impact and work based on our EAN Priorities for 2024-2028 through an expanding range of educational initiatives, scientific projects, advocacy activities, partnerships with national neurological societies and patient organisations, and many other undertakings.
Specifically, this annual report documents the new directions taken by the EAN in 2025, highlighting the most relevant steps and major milestones in our many ongoing journeys. The result is a testament to the dedication and achievements of countless individuals who have contributed to the EAN community over the course of twelve busy months. Their expertise, commitment, and collaboration continue to shape the future of neurology and inspire progress across clinical care, research, education, and advocacy.
On behalf of the EAN leadership, I extend my sincere gratitude to all our members, volunteers, partners, and supporters. Together, we are building a stronger, innovative and resilient neurological community, working towards a future in which brain health is a priority accessible to all.
We invite you to explore the accomplishments and initiatives presented in this report and to join us as we continue advancing neurology across Europe and beyond.
