It was a great honor for me to be awarded with the EAN Research experience fellowship. I spend the six months at the Epilepsy Center of University Hospital Freiburg, Germany. My project’s title was "EEG-fMRI localization of epileptic activity using advanced analysis techniques (Grouiller-Method)".
Event marks major milestone in EAN’s strategic efforts to shape the future of neurology and strengthen collaboration at both European and national levels.

President’s Page: The new Consensus Statement on European Brain Research
April 1, 2016On March 18th, 2016 the ‘Consensus statement on European Brain Research’ (Morris et al., 2016) has been launched in Brussels at the Brussel office of the European Brain Council. Several organisations related to brain science, including the European Academy of Neurology, participated. The European Brain Council is uniting the European organisations of physicians for Neurology, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, the scientists for both molecular and systemic Neurosciences and the European patient organisations for neurological and psychiatric diseases (see below 1). -

Its structure is quite similar to that of the EAN. Can you briefly illustrate how the EFNR operates and works? Leopold Saltuari (LS): The European Federation of NeuroRehabilitation Societies (EFNR) is open to all colleagues interested in the field of neuro-rehabilitation. It was founded in order to create a common platform for the national European societies of neuro-rehabilitation as well as other organizations with similar interests. -

Lieven Lagae (LL): Currently, I am the president of the European Pediatric Neurology Society (EPNS) which is representing the large majority of pediatric neurologists in Europe. I am a full Professor at the University of Leuven Belgium and Director of the Pediatric Neurology program at the University Hospitals of the University of Leuven Belgium. We offer a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic program for all major neurological problems in children. -

Several characteristics differentiate PPMS from the relapse-onset MS, the classical more frequent form: older age at onset, equal prevalence between sexes, less inflammatory component at the MRI, and quicker progression of disability. -
