The EAN will once again be offering a wide range of hands-on courses at the EAN Congress 2026 in Geneva, as well as the successfully introduced e-hands-on courses. On behalf of the Teaching Course Sub-Committee, we would like to encourage you to register for your topic of interest from among our onsite courses described below.
Our classic format – Hands-On Courses – require active participation from attendees. This course format is particularly useful if the learning objectives cover specific manually supported skills, as required in technically as well as manually challenging examinations in neurophysiology, neuro-ophthalmology, neurosonology, or movement disorders. A hands-on course may also cover clinical assessment, structured examinations or radiological interpretation. Attendees may be asked to volunteer as subjects, and they will get the opportunity to practice and demonstrate the investigation themselves. This format helps to acquire skills in certain techniques and understand how patients may feel when subjected to these examinations.
These courses are held onsite, with a limited number of participants, and some built-in work in smaller groups rotating between the various presenters of the course.
Similar to teaching courses, the hands-on courses are categorised into three levels to guide our participants towards their needs.
Level 1 (Fundamental) courses are aimed mainly at general neurologists wanting to refresh or update their basic knowledge in the field, and potentially for residents in training.
Level 2 (Advanced) courses are targeted toward experienced neurologists wishing to develop and enhance clinical knowledge and practice in a sub-specialty topic, as well as mid-career neurologists who aim to expand their knowledge in a specific domain.
Level 3 (Expert) courses are aimed at sub-specialist trainees, researchers, or practitioners with a particular interest in that field, covering the latest advances in that domain.

These courses will be repeated on Saturday afternoon (HoC03 + HoC04).

This course will be repeated on Monday afternoon (HoC10).
HoC09: EAN/MDS-ES: Infusion therapies management in advanced Parkinson’s disease (Level 2)
HoC11: Neuromuscular ultrasound: from anatomy to advanced diagnostics (Level 2)
This course will be repeated on Tuesday morning (HoC12).
In 2024, we introduced a new session format to complement ‘classic’ Hands-On Courses. For the e-Hands-On Courses, participants are encouraged to bring their own computers and experience an electronic hands-on learning format. In these sessions, participants will receive access to or be introduced to online tools or interactive web platforms and get the chance to work on anonymised patient cases on their own computers.

How to register for a Hands-On Course or an eHands-On Course
Participation is not included in the registration fee and is limited to a fixed number of participants. If you want to join any of these courses, you can purchase tickets during the congress registration process. If you have already registered but would like to purchase a ticket to an additional session, please log in to your MyEAN account and click ‘EVENTS’ > ‘My Registrations’ and select the upcoming congress.
