It is our great pleasure to announce that the e-Book “Neurological Examination for Neurologists in Training” is now available in Portuguese. This translation was the coordinated effort of a team of both senior and young Portuguese Neurologists and Psychiatrists. The team would very much like to thank the relentless support by the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) and the Portuguese Society of Neurology, as well as the enthusiasm and generosity from Professor Klaus Toyka and his co-authors.
The EAN e-book “Neurological Examination for Neurologists in Training“ is a comprehensive, albeit manageable, guide to a basic understanding of the neurological examination. It will certainly have a major role as an European neurological examination syllabus for all young neurologists, but it might also be a useful tool for neurology residents and medical students. It is devised as a pragmatic primer, so that the readership can then build upon its teachings with more detailed texts, which have been adequately referenced throughout the book.
Within this spirit and thinking that this text should reach a wider audience, we set out to make the book available in Portuguese, which is generally regarded as the sixth most spoken language in the world, with 260 million speakers. The whole text and figures were carefully translated, with minor but necessary adaptations, and subtitles were added to the built-in movies. In addition, we were able to have this project ready in time for the 4th Congress of the EAN, held in the beautiful city of Lisbon, Portugal.
We hope that the neurological community finds this new translation useful and that it inspires Neurologists in training and students of Neurology for years to come.
