The European Academy of Neurology (EAN) is pleased to announce an open call for applications to join the EAN Guideline Production Group (GPG). Two positions are available for motivated and experienced individuals who wish to contribute to the production of high-quality, evidence-based neurological guidelines at the European level.
The GPG is the overseeing body responsible for ensuring that EAN guidelines are developed according to established methodological standards and that the quality and consistency of the guideline production process are upheld. It works closely with Guideline Taskforces, who are the working groups developing the EAN guidelines.
Your tasks
As a member of the EAN Guideline Production Group, you will:
- Contribute to the oversight of the EAN guideline production process, ensuring adherence to EAN standards, procedures, and timelines
- Critically review guideline protocols and manuscripts to ensure scientific rigor and consistency
- Collaborate with other GPG members and contribute to scientific projects and publications related to guideline production
- Meet deadlines consistently, in order to support continuous workflow
- Participate in bi-monthly virtual meetings, one two-day meeting at the EAN Headoffice in Vienna, and one meeting at the EAN Congress (different locations), and contribute to discussions
- Support educational initiatives, including workshops and training activities on guideline methodology and GRADE
- Communicate regularly with the EAN Head Office
These activities reflect the GPG’s central role in coordinating and supporting guideline development, as well as promoting best practices in neurological care.
Required skills and qualifications
Applicants should be EAN members who can demonstrate:
- A strong background in neurology, clinical research, epidemiology, or a related field
- Knowledge about the EAN
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Experience with clinical practice guideline development and/or evidence synthesis (e.g. systematic reviews, meta-analyses)
- Familiarity with the GRADE methodology and evidence-based medicine principles
- Ability to critically appraise scientific literature and guideline documents
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate in an international, multidisciplinary environment
Additional assets include prior involvement in Guideline Taskforces, methodological training, and experience in international scientific collaboration.
