The European Academy of Neurology (EAN) is pleased to announce that Dr Alessandro Bombaci has been selected as the recipient of the European Journal of Neurology Jes Olesen Award 2026 for the article Peripherin: a novel early diagnostic and prognostic plasmatic biomarker in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, published in the European Journal of Neurology in 2025: https://doi.org/10.1111/ene.70241.
The Jes Olesen Award recognises the first author of the best original article published in the journal, honouring exceptional scientific quality, originality, and potential impact on patients’ health and wellbeing.
Dr Bombaci’s work was judged to exemplify these qualities through its significant contribution to advancing the diagnosis and prognosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
