Prof. Jes Olesen, former EFNS President and founder of the European Journal of Neurology, made a remarkable contribution to the future of neurology research by donating €200,000 to establish the Jes Olesen Award last year.
The award honours excellence in early-career research, with ten annual prizes of €20,000 recognising outstanding authors over a decade.
At the EAN Congress 2025, past Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Neurology, Prof. Didier Leys, announced the first recipient: Dr Tim Emmenegger from Zurich. His paper, Longitudinal motor system changes from acute to chronic spinal cord injury, was selected through a rigorous three-stage review process of 2024 publications.
Associate Editor, Prof. Alesandro Tessitore, had the chance to speak to Dr Emmenegger about his paper onsite at the EAN Congress 2025 in a fascinating video interview that you can watch below.
This milestone marks the beginning of a tradition that will inspire and support the next generation of neurologists.
