After a successful kick-off workshop in Helsinki in 2025, followed by five enriching online modules with different leadership trainers and keynote speakers, the 20 participants of the second cohort of the EAN Leadership Programme (2025-2027) met again in person for their second workshop in Geneva. During the full-day training session, they presented the final results of their highly anticipated peer group projects, reflected on the past year, and set goals and wishes for the next one.
During the first half of the programme, the participants have already explored various leadership topics within the online modules (leadership styles, project management tools, self-management, communication models, feedback techniques, advocacy and leadership, and more). After each module, the four peer groups have worked through the content even more, and presented their final projects during this workshop:
- Oxana Grosu, Ammar Kamal, Theodoros Mavridis, Sandra Vujovic and Nune Yeghiazaryan presented their Upward Leadership Playbook for Early-Career Professionals.
- Marko Celicanin, David Crosiers, Sanja Gluščević, Andreas Koupparis and Marina Picillo presented a Leadership Toolkit and Checklist for Mid-Career Professionals on How to Lead a Neurological Clinical Research Center.
- Sonja Hochmeister, Franziska Ippen, Sara Meoni, Simone Salemme and Stephan Seiler presented SAFE VOICE – a practical toolkit for speaking up, escalation, and learning in neurology teams.
- Krista Kuitwaard, Fabio Paio, Sara Samadzadeh, Jan Stork and Irina Vlad shared their peer group work on Communication in multicultural teams.
The day finished with activities and exercises to promote group dynamics and team spirit. For the second year of the programme, they have formed new peer groups based on their individual interests, discussed initial ideas and how to organise their cooperation.

After this workshop, the participants will have five more online workshops, learning about topics such as conflict management, leading teams, change management, press and media, and many more. They will meet again in person to conclude the programme at the EAN Congress 2027 in Gothenburg as Certified Leaders of European Neurology.
Thanks to all participants who took part in the workshop with full enthusiasm and engagement!
