On 26 June 2026, ahead of the 12th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in Geneva, neurologists and researchers from across Europe took part in the annual EAN Guidelines Workshop. Organised by the EAN Guideline Production Group (GPG), the workshop provided a practical introduction to the process of developing EAN clinical practice guidelines.

Throughout the afternoon, participants stepped into the role of members of an EAN Guideline Task Force, working through the different stages of guideline development. Combining short lectures with interactive group exercises, the workshop covered the key steps involved in developing evidence-based recommendations, including:
- Task Force composition
- Construction of a PICO
- Construction of Evidence Profile
- Evidence to Decision Process and Development of Recommendation
The workshop was led by experienced members of the EAN Guideline Production Group, who shared practical examples and guided discussions throughout the day. Working in small groups, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, compare different approaches and present their conclusions.
Designed for neurologists with introductory or intermediate experience, the workshop offered valuable insight into the methodology behind EAN Guidelines and the practical challenges involved in turning scientific evidence into clear and transparent recommendations.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us in Geneva and contributed to another successful workshop. We look forward to welcoming new participants to the next edition of the EAN Guidelines Workshop!
