Now in its third edition, the national conference of Italian young neurologists is one of the cornerstones of the congressional calendar for Italian residents in Neurology.

MDS-ES 8th Winter School for Young Neurologists at King’s College in London Almost 50 young neurologists and neurology residents from all over the world gathered in London from 7-9 February for the 8th Movement Disorder Society (MDS) Winter School for young neurologists. This well-attended and lively event featured two-and-half days of presentations, focused clinical examination rounds, video sessions and debate, driven by plenary sessions and two parallel workshops.

Become a member of the Resident and Research Fellow Section of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN-RRFS) and gain access to exclusive member benefits.

Two years ago, the European Academy of Neurology – Residents and Research Fellows Section (EAN-RRFS) started a new initiative called “junior national representatives network” to establish a team of junior national representatives within the EAN-RRFS. The main aim is to enable closer links between the European countries in order to facilitate the speed of information flow, exchange experiences, and learn from each other.

This year the conference of French neurology residents and young neurologists (“Les journées des Jeunes Neurologues et de la Recherche Clinique, les J2N”) took place in Paris, France, on February 2-3.

During the general assembly of the Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) on June 26, 2017 it was concluded that an update of the RRFS membership criteria was needed. Many neurologists in training across Europe conduct a postgraduate degree such as Master or MD or PhD program after their residency and these people should still be eligible as RRFS members until 3 years since their latest degree as we believe the RRFS section is relevant for them during this period.

Residents and research fellows discover the VUmc This year’s annual hospital visit on Sunday 25th of June 2017 brought 80 residents and research fellows from all over the world to the impressive VU University Medical Center Amsterdam (VUmc) located in the southwestern part of Amsterdam, close to the campus of VU University. The RRFS hospital visit was organised in collaboration with the Dutch Junior Neurology Association.

The special session of the Residents and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) took place on Sunday 25.06.2017 during the EAN congress 2017 in Amsterdam. This year the special session was held in a novel format with the aim to create a more informal environment between juniors and senior researchers and clinicians.

The link between both scientists and clinical health professionals in Neurology among the European countries is crucial to maintain and improve the continuous development of Neurology in Europe. In order to ensure the integrity of the European neurological community, it is important to overcome geographical and age gaps and to create links aiming for “one common” neurological understanding in Europe and worldwide across all generations (1,2).

The Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) would like to announce the advertisement of a RRFS treasurer position, starting from June 2017 for one year. The position will start from the 3rd EAN congress in Amsterdam and end after the 4th EAN congress in Lisbon.

It was not the first time that the regional teaching course was hosted in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The collaboration between EAN and associate prof. Elena Lebedeva from The Urals State Medical University was so fruitful that over 300 junior neurologists and residents had the opportunity to join the course.
