The European Academy of Neurology (EAN) was proudly represented by its president, Prof. Elena Moro, at the European Brain Council (EBC) & Global Brain Coalition’s Brain Days, held during the Science Summit at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York on 24–26 September 2025.
This high-level event, organised by the EBC, brought together leading voices from science, policy, and industry to advance brain health and brain capital as global priorities. The discussions emphasised the urgent need for innovation, equity, and cross-sectoral collaboration to address the growing burden of neurological and mental health disorders worldwide.
Prof. Moro also contributed to a policy dialogue titled The Last Mile: Screening, Early Detection and Treatment, hosted at the Italian Cultural Institute. This event was organised by the International Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC) and focused on prevention and equitable care in tackling brain health challenges, alongside cancer and other co-morbidities.
In addition, she attended a meeting at the United Nations Headquarters, also organised by the ICPC, where brain health was framed as central to the global Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) agenda and the UN Pact for the Future. These discussions reinforced the role of brain health in sustainable development and resilience.
“More has to be done by the global community to emphasise the determinants of health—especially those specific to brain health while thinking globally and acting locally,” said Prof. Moro.
