The democratic body of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) is the Assembly of Delegates. Every four years new Individual Delegates are elected, and new Institutional Delegates are nominated. This assembly meets once a year, in person, on the Saturday during the EAN Congress. Newly elected and nominated delegates will start their term on 27 June 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.
This year the EAN Full Institutional Members in good standing had the opportunity to nominate their delegates for the new term 2026-2029. Each Full Institutional Member is entitled to nominate one Institutional Delegate to the assembly.

The new Assembly of Delegates will meet for the first time in Geneva on 27 June 2026.
Among the full individual delegates, Italy leads with fourteen representatives. This reflects the EAN full individual membership, with Italy accounting for 14% of all active members.
According to the EAN Bylaws, the Assembly of Delegates is responsible for the following tasks:
- Election of members of the Board of the EAN
- Amendments to the bylaws of the EAN
- Approval of the annual accounts of the EAN
- Endorsement of decisions made by the Board of the EAN presented to the Assembly of Delegates by the EAN Board
- Change of the seat of the EAN and its official mailing address (Headoffice)
- Dissolution of the EAN
