During several preparatory meetings a core group of clinicians and scientists with a special interest in magnetoencephalography (MEG) decided to found the European MEG Society (EMEGS).
The mission statement of the society was defined as follows: “Advancement of MEG in terms of research, education and awareness and the promotion of the use of MEG in clinical practice in Europe”.
Moreover, a number of clinical, educational and research goals for the society were determined. The main clinical goals are to promote well-designed and well-conducted clinical trials and to establish evidence-based recommendations and guidelines for clinical practice.
The main educational goal is to organize academic and continuous professional education. The main research goals are to establish a MEG forum for promoting existing and future European clinical and basic research networks, inside and outside existing societies and federations and to promote translational MEG research.
After the preparatory meetings, we are now organizing the 1st European MEG Society Teaching Course at the Yachthotel Chiemsee, Prien am Chiemsee, Germany, on Sept. 11th 2013
