The 2022 edition of the popular quiz session, the BrainChallenge, took place on Saturday, 25 June, and ended with a surprising number of winners.

The aim of this special edition/symposium was to give the general neurologist an overview of the current knowledge of therapeutically relevant pathomechanisms and relevant translational research.

This interesting session at EAN 2022 covered the current evidence and guidance on the management of epilepsies.

Following a wait of three years, EAN President, Prof. Claudio Bassetti, was finally able to welcome the neurology community to a face-to-face EAN Annual Congress at the EAN 2022 Opening Session on Saturday evening.

Today’s joint session with the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) on The Burden of Sleep Disorders in Neurology was one of a number of sessions dedicated to sleep specialists as part of the Sub-specialty Track on Sleep-Wake Disorders Day on Saturday, 25 June at EAN 2022.

This joint session in cooperation with the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) covered a broad spectrum of important hot topics on multiple sclerosis.

The European Academy of Neurology is pleased to announce that our Assembly of Delegates elected several new EAN Board members today, on the first day of the EAN 2022 Annual Congress in Vienna.

This Symposium on ‘Early detection and treatment of Parkinson’s disease’ was organised in co-operation with the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society – European Section.

This interesting joint session with the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO) provided a picture of biomarkers in Neuro-Oncology including imaging, biological and clinical features.

The RRFS Special Session on Unveiling research in Neurology was among the first events at EAN 2022, providing residents and students with examples and suggestions of different aspects of research in neurology.

The ETRN (European Training Requirements for Neurology) have been updated with the input of the European Union of Medical Specialists – Section of Neurology (UEMS-SN) and the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), including its Scientific Panels, and the support of education experts across Europe, as well as the patients’ representatives - European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA).

It was our great pleasure to once again hold an in-person Spring School following a two-year period when these courses could only take place virtually.
